You can get involved in Patriot Paws of Aggieland (PPA) in multiple ways. In PPA you can be a General Member of the organization, an officer, a Puppy Raiser in Training (PRIT), a Puppy Sitter, or a Puppy Raiser. General Members: Become a general member of PPA and attend meetings, socials, and profit shares to support our organization. As a general member you will see many of our dogs but you will not be allowed to handle them without completing puppy raiser training. To maintain your General Member status you must pay your dues ($20) by 3rd general meeting and attend 3 General Meetings, 2 Profit Shares, and 1 Social every semester. Late dues raise to $25 after 3rd general meeting. There are plenty of opportunities to complete these requirements each semester. Spring 2024requirements: You must attend 3 General meetings, 2 Socials, and 2 Profit Shares; You can supplement one Profit Share OR Social point maximum with 1 Social Media OR Service point. Puppy Raiser in Training (PRIT): A PRIT is someone who is currently going through the training process in order to become a puppy raiser or sitter. This process is required in order to be able to handle on of our dogs. The training process is a semester long and consists of weekly training classes and other outings such as Group Outings and Shadows. You must also maintain your general member status during this process.
Puppy Raiser or Sitter (PR): A PR is someone who has completed all training requirements and has become certified to become a puppy raiser. All puppy raisers must maintain their training and outings along with General Membership requirements in order to maintain puppy raiser status.
Senior Puppy Raiser: A Senior Puppy Raiser is someone who has completed puppy raiser training, been a member of Patriot Paws of Aggieland for two years, and has raised a dog for three consecutive semesters (this can include summers).
Patriot Paws Officer: In order to become a PPA officer you must have completed at least one semester in Patriot Paws and maintained your general member status. It is not required to complete PRIT training or to be a Puppy Raiser in order to become an officer.
Being on Probation: Members on probation for the Spring 2023 semester will be required to attend 3 general meetings, 2 socials, 2 profit shares and then pick your favorite, either social or profit share and do 1 more. Members on probation have the opportunity to supplement either their social or profit share attendance with 1 point of social media or service participation. Members on probation for not paying dues during the Spring 2022 semester will be required to pay two semester's worth of dues.
